Summer weddings are around the corner and if you’re celebrating your nuptials outdoors, chances are you may have to handle some heat. Here are a few tips to keep guests (and you!) cool during a hot summer wedding:

    1. Keep drinks visible during your ceremony. It’s important to stay hydrated in the heat. Ask your caterer to serve drinks or have a spa water station before your ceremony. Be sure to have a basket of cold water bottles nearby during your ceremony too.
    2. Have a separate drinks stations during your reception. Open bars are fantastic but easily crowded. Consider having a separate station of flavoured water and/or soft drinks for non-drinker (especially kids) who wish to quench their thirst without waiting for the bartender to pour seven tequila shots for your bridal party!
    3. Keep bug spray handy. A basket of bug spray in various areas is great. Remember, visibility is key. Be creative.
    4. Have frozen treats! From custom ice cream sandwiches to flavoured snow-cones your guests will appreciate the treat in the midst of the heat. Two of our favourite Toronto vendors are: Sweet Sammies and Sweet Ice Snow Cones. If you’re on a budget, create your own freezie bar (a few buckets with ice and freezies!)
    5. Ask your venue what can be done in the event of heat. Do they have portable fans they can bring out?
    6. Humidity and a dance floor = sweat. Ensure your guests feel fresh by providing scent-free spray deodorant in the washrooms.

Remember, weather is the one thing you cannot control on your wedding day, but you can beat the heat with a few cool things in place!
